Redevelopment Master Plan

AWM Masterplan

This is an exciting on-going project, where we have developed a strategic master plan for the adaption and re-use of a group of old fabric-weaving warehouses in Devonport, north-west Tasmania.

Together with GHD, we undertook extensive analysis of the region to determine what services and building types would be most beneficial. It was identified that aged-care and independent living accommodation is a growing need in Devonport.

We proposed that the existing warehouse buildings be re-used and adapted to included independent living accommodation as well as a commercial and community hub, servicing the immediate neighbourhood.

We identified the benefits of locating aged-care accommodation and facilities alongside commercial buildings such as a café and grocer – including social, health and happiness benefits to elderly residents. The master plan aims to put these strategies in place, acting as a guide for future development.

We have an opportunity to create a central hub in the local community, responding to the values of the broader North-West Tasmanian context.

This is a true ‘Lifestyle Community’. A nurturing home for its residents and a community hub for the neighbourhood.
